Jack & Drew have both been tongue tied since birth and after much research and many a doctor consult we finally found one experienced enough to do the outpatient procedure (vs in a hospital) and Jack shocked us by agreeing to be the guinea pig and get it done! There may have been a little bribery involved in selling him but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?!
BEFORE
This is tongue-tied Jack in the waiting room on November 15th. That is a play ground battle wound below his nose...never a dull moment!
The procedure went better than any of us could have imagined! Jack sat still and with no drugs (aside from a little Tylenol) and he let the doctor clip the skin under his tongue! A few tears and a little blood but he was really focusing on the impending Toys R Us trip. He was told he could pick out 3 toys because he did so well (the original deal was for any 1 toy of his choosing...after the procedure, mommy upped it to 2 and daddy saw my 2 and raised it to 3). He also got to have ice cream for dinner and pick out a cake for "his tongue's birthday"! WAY TO GO JACK!!!
AFTER
2 weeks later, look how high he can lift his tongue! It will continue to stretch further over time. His battle wound is also healing nicely. LOL
He is working on putting his new tongue freedom to good use...
One day when Drew can actually sit still (please god...please) he will be next!
