With the lack of rain our yard looks like it's late September. Drew has resorted to mowing the concrete. We have not had to mow our lawn at all in the month of July...that's a first!

Officers Hover
So this has been sort of a long time coming. Drew received several generous Toys R Us gift cards for his birthday and we decided to put them toward a motorized vehicle. It took a good 1/2 dozen trips to the store trying out different ones to finally land on the police car. At a max speed of 7 mph with working lights, siren and speaker these maniacs are in hog heaven!
It took a good couple days for Jack to work up the courage to actually steer while he was driving and keep his foot all the way down on the pedal. Then when dad took the screw out allowing them to go max speed it was a whole new day.
So far they have managed to clip the license plate holder of my car (broke the plastic and bent the actual plate back but don't worry, there was not a scratch on the police car) as well as land themselves on top of the shrubs up against the house.
Look Ma, No Cavities!
Jack had his first official trip to the dentist on Monday. He was a little nervous when she busted out the tools but quickly adapted and did a great job.
His favorite part was closing his lips around the suction hose so all the water got sucked out.
Pearly white and no cavities!
A New Home for Mr Turtle
Last week our neighbors told us that a snapping turtle had made a nest between our pine trees so we went on a rescue mission to transplant Mr Turtle closer to the lake a few blocks away. It's hard to see here but he was a good foot and a half in length.
He was not very happy with the idea at first...
...and retreated into his shell in-between snapping at the stick Dan was trying to get him to grasp hold of.
We went with the trap him in a recycling bin and slip a cardboard under him trick.
This is about as close as Jack would get.
We loaded him up on the wagon and started our mission.
Released back into the wild.
Home sweet home.
On our way back we saw this mommy and her two fawns in our neighbors yard.

Drew Feeds The Goats!
We decided Drew was ready to head into the goat pen at the zoo this weekend. He was a little scared at first but quickly warmed up to the idea and was a pro in no time!

Playing on the elephant sculpture/slide on our way out.
Before we even pulled out of the zoo we lost Drew.
Jack & Monkey enjoyed a snuggle on the way home.

An Officer & A Gentleman
On Friday the 13th Kenny became an Officer in the Navy. I flew out to Providence, RI to meet my mom and Dennis & Janet to watch him graduate in Newport.
This was the raising of the flag just before the graduation ceremony.
Getting sworn in.
That was quick! The ceremony lasted less than an hour...my kinda ceremony!
Proud mama.
Check him out...not too shabby!
His company..."November" company.
Love this one, he is dead center above the ladies.
Some dude presenting another dude with a silver dollar on behalf of the company for their first collective salute. Yes those are military terms I used, hope you don't feel left out.
Doing a little formation before the salute.
And it's done, did you miss it?!
Ken on the right, first hand shake after the first salute!

We took a drive to Bristol, which is home of the oldest 4th of July parade in the country that Ken's company marched in this year. This is the view from some crab shack type of place where we stopped to eat lunch. I can think of worse places to be stuck for 5 or 6 weeks!

Ohio Trip Part 1 - Grandma Hart's House
We took a road trip to Ohio for the week of the 4th. It was our first trip with the boys and the dogs and we felt a minivan rental was in order and boy were we right!
The boys were riveted by the entertainment system and watched at least 6 movies each way, we were loaded up with plenty of snacks and drinks for everyone and only stopped once for lunch and potty during the 8 hour trip! Now I understand the allure of the minivan!
Drew partaking in the famous "Beuhler's" cake...daddy's favorite now has a new fan.
A little golf with Great Grandpa Chuck.
Drew gave him a run for his money.
Gramps showing him how this game is played!
Two old men.
Drew enjoying one of the many playgrounds we checked out in our old neighborhoods.
This looks like it was taken after he did a half-gainer through those metal chains in the background face first into some mulch...low on fiber??? All kidding aside he did shake off a pretty nasty fall.
Ahhh...the grandma's lawn mower, the cub cadet, always a hit!
Practicing taking turns.
Even sharing!
We went to the boathouse at Hinkley Park and Grandma Hart, mommy and Drew went on a paddle boat where after the first 5 minutes Drew decided to thrash around while we paddled. He was not too keen on his life jacket. At one point we offered him up to the lake gods or the loch ness monster, but no takers so we made our way back to land.
Drew was a little top heavy and despite our best efforts proceeded to fall down with every step.
Daddy & Jack on the other hand had a grand old time playing in a kyack.
